One advantage of using Xfig for schematics, is that the color and shape of the busses can be defined exactly the way you like. Here is a design that illistruates this:

Another interesting feature of using a more general purpose drawing program, is that you can combine component details and an overall schematic if you wish, as this drawing shows.
